The Little Theatre of Dallas, program, Season 1929-30, Volume III, Number 2, November 1929. This is a twelve page theater program in very good condition, of particular interest and rarity because the cover is adorned with a dramatic black and white illustration, which is identified on page eight thusly : “The wood cut on our cover page is by Rockwell Kent, modernist print artist. It is used through the courtesy of the Highland Park[Dallas] Art Association, who are s...ponsoring a showing of the works of this famous artist”. As you can see from the photo of the cover, Kent’s woodcut is beautifully employed. The program is for the production The Adding Machine, by Elmer Rice. The Little Theatre of Dallas was part of a national movement of such non-professional local theaters, the Dallas theater being one of the most successful, winning several awards. It drew on substantial local support; the lists of officers and supporters in the program constitutes a who’s who of Dallas leadership at the time. And the period advertisements are neat, including one for the marvelous original Neiman-Marcus. A rarity, possibly a one of a kind Rockwell Kent item.
