From 1851, beautifully bound in fine full polished calf leather, this is The Works of Daniel Webster, Volume III. Published by Charles C. Little and James Brown (later the firm's name was changed to Little, Brown and Co.), Boston. Sized 9x6 inches, 551 pages. With 5 raised bands on the spine and two leather spine labels with gilt hand tooling. With a bookplate, Acton (Mass.) Memorial Library, presented in 1915 by Mrs. J.M. Brown (probably the wife or daughter of the publisher). Materia...l on the Revolution in Greece (against the Ottoman Turks), The Panama Mission, Bank of the United States, Tariffs, On Martin Van Buren's nomination as US Ambassador to England, etc. Our scanner is adding some white lines to our images. We don't see a binder name, but it was probably one of the great British binders.
