Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:31104426 | Modified Item: No |
Brand: Sony | Country/Region of Manufacture: Japan |
Up for auction is a vintage super-heterodyne 6 transistor radio, Model TR-6 made by Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, Ltd. (SONY) in 1956.These rare examples of very early days of transistor radio don’t come up so often on auction. It will make a great addition to your radio collection!
This item is very beautiful as a 64 year old radio. As for the Sony TR-6, this model is made from a very brittle plasti...c and is easy to break, and this radio isn't also an exception. The radio can see a crack in the left side. Now it is already repaired. There are no cracks or chips besides this crack. Please see photos. As the "Sony" badge was missing, I diverted the badge for "TR-72".One of the clasp of a the leather case is missing. Please see the photo.
The radio operates on 4 AAA batter batteries - do not include batteries in this auction. I tested and it picks up many AM stations normally.Tuning knob and volume dial rotate smoothly as they should. The radio has enough volume.
These parts easily exceed the average use number of years, but the radio is not fully repaired because it is historically very valuable and to keep originality and respect it.I provide a number of photos for your inspection, Please look closely.
Thank you.
