Original Description:
Exquisitely detailed, fine example of French craftsmanship defines this rare antique ca. 1860 cloisonne and bronze inkwell with attached underplate and stand. It is highly decorated with geometric floral designs, topped with a bronze flower and bronze scrolled and scalloped champleve handles. The inkwell is in the shape of an urn. It has a hinged flip top revealing a hand blown cobalt glass insert, although I do not believe it to be the original. There is also an original cap for the i...nsert, numbered 2658 with other writing I can't make out. The cloisonne is in wonderful shape, without cracks, chipped, or missing enamel. There are no dings or dents. The hinge on the lid is in proper working condition. The bronze is not pitting or showing any corrosion, but there is residue from previously being polished, so needs to be cleaned. I had limited space for pictures, so more you may want please ask. It measures approximately 5" in height and the pen underplate measures approximately 6 1/2" in diameter. Quoted shipping cost is for USA addresses only.
