I AM ALSO LISTING OTHER ASSUITS, SO PLEASE LOOK AT THEM AS WELL.An unusual very fine Antique Egyptian Assuit shawl in black and gold metal thread.The work is much finer and the threads are smaller than they usually are. I don’t often find this type of Assuit, so I think they are fairly rare.It is hand embroidered ...in gold metal thread which is then hammered or rollered to flatten the threads.It is 82 inches long (208 cm) and in the centre it is 24.1/2 inches wide (62 cm). It is narrower at the ends.CONDITION.In very good condition.There are a few small very well done repairs which are not easy to see, so they are being mentioned just for accuracy. There is some slight darkening of the gold metal in parts, again quite minor and does not detract from how lovely the shawl is.
