A woomera is a wooden Australian Aboriginal spear-throwing device. Similar to an atlatl, it serves as an extension of the human arm, enabling a spear to travel at a greater speed and force than possible with only the arm. 3 good examples of spear throwers or Woomeras. The large broad paddle like example is sometimes referred to as a ‘Leaf form’ example and is almost certainly from western Australia. The other two may be central Australian.All in good order with no splits. Note sma...llest example has engraved decoration but is missing the hook peg.These measure 60cm, 55cm and 49cm approx.
