Item History & Price
ANTIQUE BISQUE SOCKET HEAD Armand Marseille AM # 390 GERMANY 9 1/2" FLAPPER DOLL
This doll has the prettiest blue glass eyes! She has a painted bisque socket head with, open and close, blue glass eyes and an open mouth with teeth. She has a platinum blonde wig with pate' (original) and is marked on the back of the head " Armand Marseille Germany A 390 M 11/0 " (see photo). She was made in Germany, circa 1920. Her body is j...ointed at the shoulders and hips and is entirely composition. She wears, painted gold one strap shoes with painted white stockings that go all the way up to her thighs. Her clothes appear to be all original with her flapper dress, slip, underpants (that tie in the back) and hat (or bonnet). This doll measures approximately 9 1/2" tall. She is in very good condition with no chips or cracks to the bisque but there is paint missing under the wig...because the wig had been glued to the head and, when it was pulled up, it took paint with it (see photo). There appears to be a repair at one ankle (hardly noticeable, see photo) with some loss to the gold on her shoe, in the back. She does need to be restrung because her stringing has stretched, over the years. Her original clothes still look good with only a hole at one shoulder of the dress and a couple of holes in the hat. This is a very pretty Armand Marseille bisque socket head doll with a " flapper body ". She will certainly compliment any collection! Being offered at a low starting bid (as usual) and with no reserve. I could only pry up her pate a little in the back but her head will still be stuffed to prevent breakage.
