Antique 1920's Arts & Crafts Heavy Bronze Pegasus Flying Winged Horse Bookends Sculpture Unsigned WM. H. Jackson & Co. Foundry RARE!
Stunning antique from 1920's Arts & Crafts period the pair of bronze Pegasus unsigned bookends.Made by famous WM. H. Jackson & Co. foundry, U.S.A.Made of solid bronze that has beautiful old green patina. Each bookend features 3-D flying / winged horse (Pegasus) on high pedestal with ornate background.The backgro...und has seven ornate crosses in the circles and has beautiful green patina. A lot of details on the mane, face, body, tail and wings in Arts & Crafts style. New brown felt is on the bottom to protect your tabletop. Very heavy (each weighs 5 lbs.).Each is 7” tall, 6” wide and 2½" deep.Beautiful and very heavy high quality antique collectible bookends! RARE!Great bookends to display on your bookshelf, mantel on top of the fireplace, in your living room, library or family room.
About WM. H. Jackson & Co. foundry:The company started in 1827 in New York City. The company was famous for its artisan high quality imazing metalwork in bronze, brass and iron. The history of this wonderful company was written in the book "Jackson Architectural Bronze and Iron Works Wm. H. Jackson Company New York City". Their work was installed in such prominent famous in NYC buildings as Radio City Hall, Empire State Building, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, etc.
Condition:Great condition, no signs of damage or repair. Very strong, heavy and sturdy. The bronze Pegasus has brass color. The base has darker patina. The background with crosses has beautiful original old green patina. I put new felt on the bottom to protect your tabletop.
