A favorite of budget minded Hams after WW II .... The BC-348 receivers were fairly light weight, well built and easy enough to convert to run on AC. The radio operates on 200-500Kc and 1.5-18Mhz and was used on WWII bombers with the BC-375 and then later with the ART-13 transmitter. This BC-348-R is fairly typical of the era ... The panel is very clean .. all the knobs are original and the stamped markings are bright and sharp ... the cabinet is pretty beat up looking but it's just pai...nt danage .. no dents or extra holes. A fresh coat of black paint would be a great improvement. The interior is clean as well ... all the tubes look to be original. No mods evident other than the addition of the 110v power supply in place of the dynamotor. No extra holes drilled anywhere I could see. The power input connector has been neatly replaced with a male 110 AC socket. A common computer AC power cord will now work with it. I powered the set up slowly with a Variac and it came up without any drama [ie: no smoke] but other than some hum and static I did not receive anything through a set of headphones. Obviously will need some servicing.The installed power supply looks to be homebrew and neatly done. Please see the pictures for more info.
