Original Description:
DANIEL BOOTH HEMPSTED – NEW LONDON, CT  PURE COINTABLE SERVING SPOON Daniel Booth Hempsted was a silversmith from New London, CT in the early 19th Century.  He was born in 1784 and died in 1852.  Hempsted left CT in 1820 and worked in Eatontown GA from then on.  This item is marked  with an  M   D. B. HEMPSTED   PURE COIN. I believe it is the FIDDLE THREAD pattern.  I believe this spoon dates to around 1810 – 182...0.   The handle is lightly engraved with the name ‘Converse’in script lettering.  This spoon measures 7” in overall length. It is in exceptional condition for an early coin silver spoon.   It would show signs consistent with previous use or ownership but minimal on this spoon. We have not polished; it is in ‘as found estate condition’.  This should be a highly desired piece of early American coin silver – most likely CT origin. Item will be shipped within 2 business days or less of cleared payment.Item will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail small flat rate box, with tracking number.  Items shipped to CT are subject to 6.35% sales tax on total unless a valid resale certificate is emailed to me prior to invoicing.  If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thank you for looking!
