I’m offering today an adorable baby doll from the 1950's from my private collection. This little girl has the sweetest face EVER! She has such an angelic look with shiny hazel color eyes. She is a vinyl doll which is jointed at the neck, arms and legs.
I will start at the top of the doll and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description. Starting at... the top of her head, she has light brown molded hair which has minimal paint loss. I found this adorable knit cap which is pink and white stripes with rolled edges. Sitting on the front of the cap is a large pale pink grosgrain ribbon bow with large rhinestone button sitting in the center of the bow. It looks sooooo cute with her precious pink dress. As you go down to her face, she has single brown line for eyebrows. She has hazel colored open close sleep eyes with long eyelashes which have been spared from the hands of her previous little mommies. She has one eye that wants to stick. You just have to push it a bit to close. It's always been this way since she's been in my care.
She has dainty little nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her rose bud shape lips. Her lips are painted bright red color which blend beautifully with her chubby pink cheeks. She is a vinyl doll with jointed head, arms and legs for posing in such sweet positions. The back of her neck has some letters on it, but I cannot read what it says. I took a photo so perhaps you can make it out.
Now to her adorable dress I chose for her debut. She is wearing a pale pink batiste dress with delicate ecru lace trimming the collar and bottom edge of the skirt. She has long sleeves with ruffles around the top of her wrists. The bodice is high waist with fullness flowing down the skirt. There are two metal snaps in the back for keeping the dress securely in place. Under her dress she wears vintage rayon panties which do show their age. She is wearing Vintage white socks with baby pink silk ribbon to keep them in place. This adorable baby doll will come with her very own large plastic baby pin to keep her company.
She has been in my collection for many years and over the course of years I clean my dolls and try to avoid them from ageing by doing so. They are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough. My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy.
All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children. Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll. We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor. My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new. Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes. If I've missed something it would never be intentional.
SIZE:
This little baby doll stands approximately 15" tall. She is perfect size for cabinet or sitting on larger dolls' lap.
CONDITION:
There is nothing bad I can say about this little sweetie. After all, she is from the 1950's and in my opinion is in good condition. She has one eye which sticks every now and then. Obviously, this is quite common with these older dolls. Her dress is vintage, but has been laundered and ironed. Her cap was purchased just for her to wear with her pink dress. Her panties are vintage and do show wear. She's a darlin' baby doll and one you will want to add to your collection. Please view complete set of photos for thorough description. I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls. God bless you. Connie
