Vintage Mazetto di Fiori Nove Pottery Italian Majolica Ginger Jar 1940’s-1970’s. Marked Italy 5.Nove pink rose bouquet on one side, Yellow tulip bouquet on the other. Excerpt from antiques.com:“Ginger jar is an accepted description in light of the fact that Marco Polo introduced the Asian shape to the Italy. It was most likely made between the end of World War II and the 1970’s. The design is known as Mazzetto di Fiori (Floral Bouquet). The jar was made in the town of Nove, abo...ut an hour's drive from Venice. If you do an image search for Nove pottery you will discover that most of it has blue borders consisting of dots and dashes and the central design is usually a floral motif and more commonly displays the Nove Rose. I find that most Italian pottery can be traced to a particular town or region. There is a small chip, and a few flea bites on under edge of the lid. Not visible while on the jar. Also 4 very small chips on rim of jar, not visible while lid is on.
