The all brass cage is in very good shape without any noticeable dents or scratches although a certain amount of dis-colorization is evident. Overall it measures approximately 11" tall x 6" in diameter.
Griesbaum was founded around the turn-of-the-century making primarily clock parts. They began making these fascinating singing bird pieces in the 1920s and soon were among the 4 companies known to be manufacturers of them, The other 3 included Bontems (French), Reuge (Swiss), and Echle (German). Only Reuge continues today joining MMM of Germany who acquired the Griesbaum manufacturing inventory around 1980 and only recently began re-making these beautiful and entertaining collectibles.
