A rare Colonial American voting register. From the papers of Captain John Hill, an early Maine jurist, comes this circa 1740 12 by 3.5" list entitled THE FIRST EIGHTEEN VOTERS. It lists the 18 wealthiest men in Boston, 4 in Plymouth (plimouth), 3 in the Province of Maine, and 2 at large. Names include William Pepperell, Samuel Waldo, El? Hutchinson, Josiah Willard, Richard Saltonstall, Jeremiah Moulton, John Hill, and John Wheelright of Sagadahoc, amongst others.
