Original Description:
Antique 18th century handwritten family genealogy listing birth dates for the Nelson family.  This document came with a handful of deeds and papers from the Nelson Family of Salem County, New Jersey.  The handwritten names and dates ( all dating to the 1700s) are penned on a partial page from a late 16th Century/early 17th Century page from a Bishops’ Bible.  The text is printed in Old English on hand laid paper.  Fragment affixed to think paper with a hole cut in... the back allowing one to view the reverse side.  This appears to be the only page saved from this family Bible before it was sent off to auction at Sotheby’s in the 1970s.  Accompanied with the Bible page is a printed letter from Sotheby’s discussing the Bishops’ Bible (see photo 12).  This Document came housed in the same envelope as the partial Bible page which helped us to identify it as Bishops’ Bible.  The letter will be sent with the page.
In Good condition considering rarity.  Page is worn with edge wear but sound.  Bible page affixed with adhesive to thin cream paper backing.  Quite suitable for framing.
Bible page measures 9” x 7” and 8 1/2” x 11” with the paper backing.
