This truly spectacular Very Rare sculpture belongs in a museum of Early American Pottery, it has to be the most intricate figure in the few models known to exist from the Early California artistry of Muriel Josef.
The detail is incredible, each little leaf was molded individually and applied one by one around the also applied individually little flowers.. And the texture of the gold lace, all that 24kt gold and the way it is sculpted away from the skin, such delicate and intricate w...orkmanship, those French curls cascading to one side of her head also done and applied individually...This is a true masterpiece of it’s genre.
Excellent condition, no chips, no cracks, no concentrated crazing anywhere, just some lines here and there that I could only find when looking at her under strong light with my glasses on...Nothing that is readily visible or detracts in any way from this amazing piece of art.
Measures 10-3/4" in height and has a remnant of her Muriel Label that can still be read.
A true treasure that has been revered for many years and should continue to enhance wherever she may be displayed....I always say that we only rent this treasures till they move on to wherever their final destination will be...As I mentioned above likely a Museum but in the meantime some lucky someone will get to enjoy her privately.
