**Highly Collectable - First Ever Winnie The Pooh Book**
For sale i have a 1st edition / 1st printing of 'When We Were Very Young' by A A Milne. Published in 1924 this is the first book from the Winnie The Pooh quartet printed with numbers limited to around 1500. Packed full of wonderful illustrations by E H Shepard this is a very scarce ...book to find with this one showing its age a fair bit. I do have other titles listed now in 1st Edition too so please have a browse. Notable collectables worthy of anyone's shelf.
The book is bound in the publishers original blue cloth with gilt titles and decorations. This is the true 1st Edition with just one date of First Published in 1924 in the book with no reprints mentioned. The boards are in fair order for the age with numerous marks and bumps as can be seen in my photos. Certainly not perfect by any means but all original. Internally the book again fair only with marking, thumbing and fox marks/stains throughout the leaves. The pages are quite brittle with the odd small tug/tear and some dog ears to toward the middle . None the less Beautiful illustrations by E H Shepard who was a good friend of A A Milne and these show well. All pages legible and attached and all firmly bound in. An honest but well read example of this RARE 1st Edition/1st Printing now 96 years old. Probably one of the most collected series of children's books ever written and as popular today as when first released.
The dust jacket is a fair / good original and it's a slightly later state with the correct early reviews etc. No mention of Winnie The Pooh to the flaps making it 1924/25. I've added a photo of the jacket laid out so please view. A little general rubbing/marking in places with some darkening to the spine and a few chips to the extremities. Not perfect but at that age i wouldn't expect it to be and it does improve the appearance on the shelf.
Highly collectable as are all the Winnie The Pooh originals and certainly worthy of a good home.
