Original Description:
 Here's an AT-6A # 15467 pilots Rudder Pedal Artifact which fell some 6, 000 feet to the ground after being ripped out of the aircraft. This T-6 suffered a violent mid-air collision with B-17G # 42-31324 near the old WWII Army Air Force Base at Las Vegas, Nevada on 2-25-44. It resulted in the heaviest loss of life of any accident suffered there during the war. Only the tail-gunner of the B-17G survived with minor injuries and was back on duty two days after the accident. Most unfo...rtunately the crash site, which should have been memorialized, was instead, obliterated by the construction of the Beltway around Las Vegas a few years ago. With its destruction, went a grim but historic piece of aviation history.
