This is a very rare Cantagalli Italian tin glazed earthenware plate/plaque in beautiful hand painted polychrome colors. It is a scene of a little boy or cherub with 3 captured blackbirds on a string. They are flying around his head as he walks on a path to a village in the background. It is in amazingly good condition with only minor crazing. It's been handing on my wall for over 50 years, so no one has touched it. There is a tiny factory paint skip on the top in the clouds. I pointed ...it out with a toothpick. See photo. The bottom is stamped with the Cantagalli Cockeral or Rooster and the number 3. It is 8.75" dia, and 1" tall. The edges are kind of scalloped. Look at the photos closely, they show so much more than I can describe. Any white dots are camera reflection.
