VERY RARE CHINESE CIZHOU TORTOISE FLAMBE GLAZE JUG EWER TANG JIN DYNASTY JOANIES NO RESERVE FINE ASIAN ARTS ESTATE AUCTION! Hello, Many Thanks for viewing our auctions!
Joanies is very excited to be offering a fine and rare selection of Ming and pre Ming ceramics and other interesting objects including examples from the important estate collection of the late Mr. Pao. We have offered several items from this collection over the past couple years and have now been asked to offer the... remaining pieces. Mr Pao was a personal friend and was highly respected as a knowledgable scholarly collector and Chinese art dealer during the 1960-90s period. Mr. Pao owned a high end Chinese art gallery in the prestigious Four Seasons hotel in Toronto that has been closed for around 20 years now. The sale also includes an important set of five early Ming dynasty Buddhist emblems that were deaccessioned by the Royal Ontario Museum c1969.
A number of the items being offered from the collection were scheduled to be sent to New Yorks’s high end auctions, but due to large sale delays and other issues this year the estate had asked us to offer All the remaining items. A great and rare opportunity to acquire some investment-grade examples. This will be our Last large Asian art offering of the winter season.

Up for auction is a VERY RARE CHINESE CIZHOU TORTOISE FLAMBE GLAZE JUG EWER TANG JIN DYNASTY. Part of an important estate collection being offered this week. We have visited this fine example at the estate for many years now and have now been asked to offer the ewer in our estate auction.
We believe this is a superb and likely highly sought after example that would date from the Tang to Jin Dynasty period. The ewer is a large size example with one of the nicest tortoise Cizhou glazes we have seen. We believe the opportunity to acquire such an example outside a major auction house would not arise very often. The ewer is in very nice and unaltered original condition and is being offered Without Reserve.
Condition: Estate-fresh, with minor imperfections and wear consistent with early age. The ewer is overall in very fine investment-grade condition in our opinion with no notable losses, no cracks or repairs. UV light also reveal no hidden damage.
