It is a slab of REAL Silica shale matrix with SEVEN(!) complete and near-complete Phacops and Eldredgeops trilobites cast on it.&...nbsp;This amazing masterpiece was created years ago by trilobite savant, the late, great Eugene Thomas. Eugene took a slab of real Silica Shale from Ohio (note the fossils on the back of the slab!) and cast seven Phacops on the rock. Eugene was a master of making casts, even creating a line of trilobite casts for sale. If you didn't know you would think it's the real thing because of the real rock base. This is a "one-off" piece he made just for his collection. It is an unbelievable "death assemblage" that seems too good to be true...because it is!
