NATIVE GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN from the MOTHER LODE
Ruler is 1/4" wide (6 mm). U.S. 10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. Specimen weight: 16.7 Gram - 259 Grains (Troy) Size: 40X28.3X19.5 mm If you like gold straight from the earth, check out this glimmering beauty. Quite a large outcropping of yellow metal juts out from one end. Crystalline facets can be seen on much of the gold and, where it's embedde...d inside the bull quartz, small terminations of clearer quartz. It's not hard to see why placer gold was so abundant throughout this part of California, i.e. Sierra County. If you ever wanted to own a chunk of ore with more than a speck of visible gold in it, this might be the piece. Authenticity is guaranteed. Source - the Original Sixteen to One Mine. It takes a lot of effort to find gold whether it's placer, pocket, or high-grade lode. From my perspective, there's really no such thing as an 'ugly nugget' or gold specimen. Each one is beautiful in it's own way. I guarantee the gold growths here are a natural occurrence. All my specimens show visible gold and are authentic gold quartz specimens. I don't paste 'pounded gold' or spray gold-colored paint on barren rock. Refractory ores, which need to be heated and run through special processes to release the minute amount of gold locked up inside, aren't usually my thing. When I do sell sulphides, you'll be able to see gold associated with the pyrites. You won't need to crush and treat my rocks with cyanide solution to get at the gold. We're not dealing in micron gold. I deal in genuine high-grade, naturally-occurring gold quartz with visible gold, both as specimen and as jewelry-grade slab. Such rich rocks and lapidary rough are hard to find and expensive to obtain.

A DEAR PRICEAn ex-Navy buddy down in Arizona produced some awesome gold from an underground placer mine in La Paz County near Quartzsite. He hiked down an incline and returned with 5 gal buckets half-full of paydirt hacked from support columns inside the mine. He would then sell his unprocessed haul to the guy next door to me for beer money. Man, was I envious! Running it through a gold-wheel, my neighbor routinely pulled 1/2 to 3/4 oz of Au from those buckets. They repeated this transaction routinely. That was truly some of the richest pay-dirt I've ever seen. A half ounce of gold recovered from two and a half gallons of dirt? That's insane! Desert rats are known to sometimes engage in desperate deeds and whatever prosperity they stumble onto rarely lasts for long. Working dry placers in the summertime can be brutal. If silicosis from pounding dry quartz don't do you in, the heat, snakes, scorpions, or cigarettes (coffin nails) will. Some of the salty miners I've known lived hard and undoubtedly paid a dear price at the end.
