My father found this beautiful dart point in "Field 17" in summer of 1992. Field 17 is our Village Creek site 3 miles west of Chanute. This point displays beautifully. It is whole and perfect, 2.5inches long, made from a uniform flint, light gray, with very fine texture. ...The profile of this point resembles artifacts from the "Hopewellian" culture of Woodland age, 2000 year old. Edward Scully describes "Hopewell" points as having an elliptical cross section, and lack of basal grinding, which this point exhibits. His description does not however include "serrated" examples as this specimen seems to depict.
