I am helping to liquidate my fathers extensive collection of artifacts. Please see the pics for details. If you have any questions, or think I can enhance or correct a description, I'd really like to hear from you.
My fathers notes say only "Point found in field 30 sp. 1990." Field 30 is along Canville Creek east of Shaw Kansas. I guess I would have thought he would have been more excited about the find than a simple 6 word description. I think it is a pretty special find. It looks ...like it has a nick missing from one blade. However, the artifact is indeed whole (in my opinion). There is a bad hinge that I believe the maker decided to just live with. The hinge is immediately adjacent to a line, that would probably crack if stressed. If he had attempted to correct the hinge, he probably would have ended up making a couple of bird points. This blade is almost 4in long, 2in wide, rather crudely knapped. I sold a twin to this blade last week. Found in the same field about 10 year apart.
