Icollect vacuum tube type equipment, especially ham radio gear. But, if it has a tube in it, I'm interested. So, several years ago, I wasplanning to assemble an all vacuum tube hifi/stereo system. I begangathering pre-amps, tuners, etc. and I planned to build my own highpower stereo amp running in the neighborhood of 150 watts perchannel. Then, I priced output iron for such an... amp and the stickershock pretty much shut that project down. I settled for vintagesolid state gear, instead (and, BTW, it rocks!). That left me with asmall assortment of tube type audio gear that I no longer needed. This Bogen tuner is one of those pieces.Gohereforgeneral information on the Bogen R660. (Drat, this link may not work– don't know why!) As for this, particular, unit, it'scosmetically quite nice with far less than normal wear and tear. There are no scratches, holes, or flaws in the paint except for onelittle ding on a corner of the cabinet. Two of the felt pads on thecabinet legs are missing. The correct knobs and all of the tubes arepresent. Thisis what I've done. Cleaned the knobs with a mild soap and toothbrush. Cleaned the front panel and meter face. (I have a real thing about a pretty face!) Replaced the burned out meter light. For test purposes, I brought the unit up slowly using a current limiting device. I observed the aged electrolytics reform and watched for signs of failure. When I was convinced there was no fire or smoke, I applied full line voltage. Yes, I know what I'm doing! Using headphones (this a tuner only, therefore, there is no power amp output stage to drive speakers), I could hear stations both on AM and FM. The meter responded properly for AM, but, seemed incorrect for FM. End of testing.Usually, I perform a thorough electronic refurbishment on gear before I sellit. I did not refurbish this unit because I have lots of vintage hamgear that I would rather work on, so, I'll leave the refurbishment upto you. As with all vintage electronics, this piece should becarefully gone through by a qualified technician before putting itinto service. Also, someone strung the dial cord backwards. Whenthe knob is turned clockwise, the dial pointer moves left. The cordslips a little. Whether or not you restring it, a little bee's waxwill restore traction.Whatyou see is what you get. I will include copies of several pages ofSam's for your use. (Sam's includes dial stringing instructions.) Checkmy feedback. I have many happy customers.Iencourage international bidders, but, will ship to a destinationoutside of the US only if you participate in the eBay Global ShippingProgram. ALSO NOTE: I have been buying andselling on ebay for over ten years and have completed hundreds ofsuccessful transactions. The vast majority of the folks I havedealt with are pleasant, honest buyers and sellers. Sadly, however, I've had the misfortune of dealing with the other endof the spectrum, too, from merely unpleasant people to downrightcrooks. Dealing with people like this is stressful, irritating, and costly. Life is too short for that. I maintain ashort list of "Banned Buyers". My ebay experiencewith these folks was unpleasant and I don't wish to repeat it. Occasionally, I have to add another user to the list. Therefore, I reserve the right to CANCEL ANY BID, at ANY TIME, forANY REASON.
