Up for auction is a terrific hollow-carved Drake Redhead made by Chris Smith of Algonac, Michigan, ca, 1920s. Smith was the owner of the Chris Craft Boat company, maker of many of finest wooden boats ever made. This decoy is in old hunter’s paint and does show some signs of use in the field with rubs to the end of the tail and bill. It also has a few shot marks attesting to its years of work. The glass eyes are very good but appear to... be replacements. The decoy does appear to have original paint on the bottom and carries its original round lead ballast. Decoys by Chris Smith are really tough to find in any condition and this is a good one for sure. Measures 14-1/2” long; 5-1/2” wide; and 6.” Please ask questions or for more pictures.
