Here is a c1960 (1950-1970) NAVAJO EI...GHT YEI WEAVING/RUG FROM THE LUKACHUKA REGION NAVAJO RESERVATION. IT IS HAND WOVEN WITH HIGH QUALITY MERINO SHEEP WOOLS AS WELL AS SEVERAL COLORS OF GERMANTOWN WOOL YARNS. A UNIQUE YEI WITH ELONGATED FIGURES, RARE COLORS AND A RAINBOW GUARDIAN BORDER YEI!
This BLANKET/RUG is hand woven from beautiful Navajo Reservation Sheep Wools and Germantown Wools - the shades of grey, white and black are made from all natural Sheep Wool colors. The various colors are primarily Germantown Wools. The design is a NAVAJO YEI PATTERN. The bold figural pattern grabs the eye, and this is a fine display item. This is a HIGH QUALITY piece of Native America to display in your home or cabin!!!
The size of this textile is approximately 47" X 27", with a hand spun wool warp of about 10, and a Wool Weft of about 40 (fine weave!)!!!! A beautifully designed and well constructed piece of Native America-Nice Wools! The WEAVER IS LALA JOE FROM LUKACHUKAI (see pic. of tag). CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR AGE (NEAR MINT)!!! The wools within this rug are in great condition (still have plenty of luster and sheen, really beautiful) NO Holes, NO Stains, NO Bleeding colors, NO Fraying, NO Fading! The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact, a braid of two, 2 ply white wool yarns. The Side Selvage Warps are 100 % intact/present as well, no loss of weft or fraying to sides. The 4 corners in excellent shape, and the 4 corner ties are present (see pic of corners & all pics!). NEAR MINT CONDITION!!!THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO LUKACHUKAI REGION YEI WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY AS IS!
