Here is a c1940 (1935-1945) NAVAJO YE...I WEAVING/RUG FROM THE FROM THE NAVAJO RESERVATION. IT IS HAND WOVEN WITH HIGH QUALITY CHURRO SHEEP WOOLS. A UNIQUE YEI WITH 2 YEI FIGURES, AND BEAUTIFUL AND RARE VEGETAL DYE AND ANILINE COLORS !
This BLANKET/RUG is hand woven from beautiful Navajo Reservation CHURRO Sheep Wools - the shades of grey, white, brown and black are made from all natural Sheep Wool colors. The the green and purple are vegetal dyes and the red and orange are Aniline Dyes obtained from the Trading Posts of the time. The design is a NAVAJO YEI PATTERN. The bold figural pattern grabs the eye, and this is a fine display item. This is a great piece of Native America to display in your home or cabin!!!
The size of this textile is approximately 35" X 19", with a hand spun wool warp of about 8, and a Wool Weft of about 20-22!!!! A beautifully designed and well constructed piece of Native America-Nice Wools! CONDITION: EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR AGE!!! The wools within this rug are in great condition (still have plenty of luster and sheen, really beautiful) NO Holes, NO Notable Stains (some small light dirt stains that should come out with a simple spot cleaning and do no detract from presentation of weaving - displays beautifully as is), NO Bleeding colors, NO Fraying, NO NotableFading! The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact, and the Side Selvage Warps are 100 % intact/present as well, no loss of weft or fraying to sides. The 4 corners in excellent shape, and the 4 corner ties are present (see pic of corners & all pics!). THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO LUKACHUKAI/GALLUP REGION YEI WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY AS IS!
