An attractive group of twelve variousChinese export blue and white decorated porcelain collectibles, mostly Kangxiperiod, 18th centurydescription:This is an interesting group of various antiqueporcelain objects, hand decorated in blue under glaze on milky white, originating from China. These delicate items were made for the export market toEurope and are dating to the early and mid 18th century. These were mostlymade during the reign of the emperor KangXi, covering a large part of the ...late17th and early 18th century. Some of these might date to the Qianlong era.Chinese porcelain was traded by the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC), which hadspecial commercial privileges to Japan (Decima Island) and China. The wealthyDutch merchants loved the subtle Chinese porcelain and large quantities wereshipped to Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is known that the Chinesefactories reserved their best quality porcelain for export, thuspleasing their European customers. Although manufactured to be used, mostof this Oriental porcelain was kept in collections and displayed in specialChina cabinets in European distinguished houses. This group of Chinese blue and white collectiblesconsists of four bowls, six saucers and two small vases, some matching. Thecondition of these objects is described accurately below:1. A matching pair of two unusually small sized andvery thinly potted tea bowls and saucers, having a decoration of birds and flowers. All are unmarked, the miniature bowls standing 1 1/8 inches (27 mm) highand 43 mm wide. The saucers are only 71 mm wide, Unfortunately, their conditionleaves something to be desired. One saucer is near perfect with only two orthree needlepoint sized rim frittings. The other saucer is distinctly repaired. One bowl has a rim breakage with an associated hairline, the other small bowlis perfect.2. A set of two miniature calabash shaped vases, probably made for a dolls house, is dating to the Kangxi period. These stand 62mm high. They have minor imperfections. A single tea bowl, decorated with precious items. It is in perfect condition and is 43 mm high and 75 mm wide.4. Two matching saucers with pointed rims. Elaboratelypainted with flower patterns, these are in excellent condition with only someglaze loss and a small fritting to the points of the rims. These Kangxi saucersare 108 mm (4 ¼ inch) wide and areunmarked. 5. A singlesaucer is decorated with a flower vase surrounded by floral patterns in lotusshaped reserves. This saucer measures 118 mm across. It has some minor rimglaze loss / small frittings. It is unmarked and produces a clear sound whentapped by fingernails.6. A tea bowl and matching saucer are decorated withpairs of cockerels, alternating flower patterns. This Kangxi period set ismarked with a single script mark within concentric circles.
