I can personally witness for the authenticity of this spearhead, because I found it in 1971. This came from a site just east of Chanute Kansas known to locals as Coopers Ditch. I can still remember my dads face when I opened my hand to show him what I had found. I would h...ave been 11-12yrs. Coopers Ditch is a canal that was a semi-successful attempt to divert the main channel of the Neosho River to avoid continued erosion on the cut bank side to protect the bridge. Look at it on Google Earth (37.684462 -95.42005). It is a couple miles south of the confluence with Village creek that, if you follow my auctions, is mentioned frequently. We have found many artifacts over the years at this site. IT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY!! This rather crude spearhead is 4.5 inches long, knapped very thin, and kind of warped, which does not show up well in the pics. Its missing a tiny shard on it's base, otherwise it is whole. Made from an earthy luster gray flint. It displays pretty nicely. Probably Woodland in age, as anytime I see a spearhead, my first thought is "pre bow and arrow", "pre horse". Probably better not quote me though.
