Another nice beveled knife found along the banks of Villiage Creek. This one about 4 miles due west of Chanute Kansas. Like many artifacts recovered from these cultivated fields it has been broken and repaired. The good news is that it was a clean break in only two pieces... that mated up perfectly. Deep plowing, while sometimes bringing buried items to the surface is very hard on fragile flint artifacts. Remember that flint or chert is SiO2, silica dioxide, exactly the same chemical composition as GLASS! It's a wonder that we find anything over an inch long in a field that has been stirred around for a hundred years or more. This one was a great find.
I have several artifacts up for auction at this time and as always, I'm happy to combine items to save $$ on shipping. I will pay for shipping and handling. I will ship to only the lower 48 states and accept Paypal only. Thanks!
