The embroidery is... done entirely by hand on a 100% Manta / muslin type cotton fabric that will soften over time. Otomi embroidery is a traditional technique from the Otomi people living on the central plateau of Mexico. Stylized figurative elements arranged in a mostly symmetric form. According to legends, the animals depicted stem from cave paintings in the area, and often figures from amate paper cut outs made by local healers, however the style has influences of Spanish and aztec aesthetics as well. This (and every other) OTOMI EMBROIDERY IS UNIQUE AND ONE-OF-A-KIND. There are NO Otomi embroideries that are exactly the same. The art of Otomi embroidery is passed from generation to generation, and each artisan lady creates her embroidery by the flight of imagination. Last photo shows the tribal woman working on her Otomi embroidery. Hand-Made in MexicoHand-embroidered72" x 15.5" A stunning, show-stopping piece, a great conversation starter, made by talented Otomi tribal artisans in accordance to their heritage and traditions.
