Up for auction is a really good Mason Standard Grade glasseye Drake Mallard, ca. 1915. It is exceptionally strong original paint with bright speculums and feather loops that look like they were applied yesterday. The bird does show some wear from age including rubs to the edges of the bill, lower sides and end of the tail. It has a few shot marks on the head and back - a testament to its days in the field. There is a crack on the left side of the neck, and the filler has been... replaced with touch-up to that area. There is a filled check along the left side of the decoy that extends slightly into the breast that has touch-up on it as well. There are a couple of small areas of in painting on the right side that looks to have been applied to cover some side rubs. It is possible that the left eye has been replaced but tough to tell for sure. It has a square lead pad attached to the bottom. All in all, this is just a great looking example of the Mason factory's standard grade output. Measures 16-1/2” long; 5” wide; and 6-1/2” tall. Please ask questions or for more pictures.
