Four (4) Rubber Diaphragm Gaskets You are purchasing TWO (2) Glass Diaphragms and FOUR (4) Rubber Gaskets that fit a variety of early reproducers including the early Edison Automatic, Standard Speaker, and early Graphophone floating reproducers desi...gned to play brown wax (e.g. early Columbia Q reproducer, Columbia Eagle, Columbia "Heavy Eagle").

My glass diaphragms are virtually identical to the original parts used by Edison and Columbia. If you have never installed or used a glass diaphragm my advice is to handle these with exceedingly great care. They are a mere .0075" thick and, just like originals, are very easy to break if you handle them wrong during installation or subject them to shock (i.e. dropping the reproducer onto the record) during use.

The diaphragms can be secured to the diaphragm post/stud using shellac, CA glue, 2-part quick-set epoxy, etc. Shellac is the more traditional way to make the connection and is easier to remove should the need arise to replace the diaphragm at some point. If you want me to send a few thin flakes of shellac, just let me know. The easiest way to melt it is with a common soldering iron. Once you have small amount melted to the tip of the soldering iron you can then apply to the flat side of the link post/stud and then quickly and very gently set it on the center of the diaphragm. Do NOT use pressure. Let the heat and gravity do the work. Folks have been asking me to cut glass diaphragms for many years and here they are. These diaphragms are made using a carbide cutter and lots of flowing water. (Cutting glass under water is like magic...witchcraft even!) The nominal size of 1 5/16" describes the opening of the aforementioned reproducers. The cut size of my diaphragms is 1 9/32" (i.e. 1.28125" or 32.54375mm). This allows a very slight amount (< 1/64") of space around the edges for clearance. This helps assure that the diaphragm will not touch the inner wall of the reproducer. The thickness of this glass is incredibly uniform and measures a delicate .0075" thick. Be gentile. The diaphragm gaskets are the same fine parts that I sell in my other listings. They are made of neoprene rubber and will stay resilient pretty much forever. I have included pictures of the stiffened fiberboard containers and covers I have made for these to be shipped in. Each diaphragm will be separated from the others by a layer of thin paper as shown in the pictures. Each container can safely hold up to about 10 diaphragms. When you get them, HANDLE WITH GREAT CARE. As always, feel free to ask questions. My first batch of these yielded about 125 on the first run. If more are needed I will get them together.
