LUDWIG VINTAGE 1970 LM400 SUPRAPHONIC SNARE DRUM
Item History & Price
WHY WE LOVE THIS DRUM (and so should you!): She is almost 50 years old, and has been abused. The chrome is ...pitted and flaked. And no, your eyes are not deceiving you...there is a "haze" on a lot of the chrome which we have not figured out. A previous owner must have subjected her to damaging chemical or vapors. The "haze" is not an extra substance on top of the surface of the chrome, it IS the surface of the chrome. It was frustrating trying to remove it, and when we consulted a metallurgist associate, he explained that this "haze" cannot be removed as it is the actual surface. HERE'S THE POINT:Despite her having been abused/neglected over her 49 years, she STILL LOOKS BEAUTIFUL to us SUPRA FANATICS!Despite her looks, she STILL SOUNDS AWESOME. I'll take her to any studio or stage and put her up against any modern $2, 000 fancy trick snare and she will stand on her own to the most persnickety of sound engineers!Every neglected SUPRA deserves to be saved, and we did!***BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!
