Featured in this auction is a beautiful, vintage Rookwood Pottery cabinet bowl. This piece has an arts-and-crafts urn design with two geometrically-scrolled handles and an unusual Celtic-inspired fretwork motif encircling the shoulder. This bowl is in excellent condition with tiny glaze skips, drips and pinholes in the glaze along with very-minor scuffing from gentle use. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. The piece does exhibit some ...light roughness at the top rim and a very small glaze pinhole or glaze flake, along with tiny glaze rubs on the handle edges which I have tried to capture in the photos. These are really small details that I am noting only for the sake of accuracy. This bowl is just over 4" tall, 5-1/2" wide at the shoulder, and almost 3" wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped (under thick glaze) with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 1807 and the production year XXVII (1927). This gorgeous glaze is a matte mocha-brown color with a dark-blue crystalline overdrip that results in a very unusual glaze color combination. The bowl is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 11 photos! This sweet little cabinet piece exhibits pure Mission style and would be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
