Featured in this auction is a really beautiful, vintage Rookwood Pottery cabinet vase from the Mission era. This piece has an arts-and-crafts design of a gracefully-tapering, paneled form with a small floral motif encircling the neck of the vase at five points. This piece is in excellent condition with very-minor glaze skips and drips, along with some tiny scratches from gentle use. The thinner glazes highlight the detail of the vase edges with interior drips tha...t are visible since the glaze does not reach the bottom inside. There are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. This cabinet vase has lots of Mission-style character -- a perfect example of arts-and-crafts design. The piece is almost 4-1/2" tall, 3-1/2" wide at the body, and a little over 2" wide at the top rim opening. The pentagonal base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2811 and the production year XXV (1925). This gorgeous glaze combination is a matte, light-blue underglaze with a curdled, violet-blue overdrip. This vase is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 8 photos! This super little cabinet piece, rich in design and color, would be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
