This listing is for the old Mexican blanket that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. The nature of the sale and my experience leads me to guess that it was made in the 1950's or 60's. I could easily be wrong. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is and where it was woven. Not including the mesh fringe, it measures close to 88 1/2 by 47 ½ inches. The mesh and fringe add about 6 1/2 inches to each end. It weig...hs close to 2 pounds 1 ounce. I think that the warp and fringe are probably cotton but the rest of it except for the off white stripes and the background of the center diamond feel and looks like 100% wool. I burned a tiny amount of one of the threads forming the fringe to discover that it smelled like burning cotton. I think that the off white stripes and background of the center diamond are probably also made with cotton although they feel smooth to me like they might be silk. The photos were taken outside in direct sunlight. The sun was pretty low in the sky so that shadows are noticeable. The surface that it is on is not perfectly flat I probably should have straightened it out more. At my stiff old age, that was more pain than I wanted to endure. It looked flat when it was hanging on a wall at the estate sale. The photos were taken outside in direct sunlight from a northern sun that is pretty low in the sky. So, there are shadows where I did not straighten it out more. It will lay flat. The condition is much like you see in the 15 photos after the general description. There is one small irregularity that might be damage that you can see in a closeup. The off white areas look like they vary very slightly in color. That might be from age or just variance in the material used. There is a fold crease down the center. It looks clean to me. I have not cleaned it. It came from a very clean estate. My sense of smell is not very strong. I detect a slight odor of mothballs when I smell it. Otherwise, it is fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. I guarantee this blanket to be as described and represented by the 15 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them. Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.
