Description A beautiful rare early-dated English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver cream jug, in lovely antique condition and with English silver hallmark...s for London 1758. Excellent quality genuine 261 year old antique sterling silver jug, (definitely not a modern re-production), with a very unusual bulbous base, it is decorated with attractive embossed flowers and foliage, with a nice scrolled silver handle and it rests on 3 ornate splayed silver legs. Has an attractive gilt-lined interior and there are no added personal engraved inscriptions or monograms. Weighs a heavy approx 115 grams, and is ready to be used.Measurements Great size, measures approx. 4.55 inches (115mm) in height, x 2.75 inches (68mm) in diameter around the middle.Date English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver, with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1758 (date letter "C"). Good readable marks and include the crowned leopards head stamp of the London assay office and the lion passant/gardant sterling silver stamp. No duty mark as pre-dates the silver duty act.Maker Silversmiths initials "N.B", have not been able to identify the maker.Condition Lovely antique condition, and ready to be used. No splits or wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, possible teeny little repair on the handle join, really nothing and a very nice example. The 3 decorative splayed silver legs are undamaged and it has a good heavy silver weight.
