Description A beautiful rare early-dated English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver cream jug by the silversmith I.W - (1748-1763), in lovely con...dition and with English silver hallmarks for London 1749. Excellent quality genuine 270 year old antique sterling silver jug, (definitely not a modern re-production), decorated with attractive embossed flowers and foliage, with a nice scrolled silver handle and it rests on 3 splayed silver cabriole legs. Decorated in the cartouche with a wonderful large period estate crest, worth researching. Weighs a heavy 91 grams, and is ready to be used.Measurements Measures approx. 4 inches (100mm) in height, x 2.5 inches (62mm) in diameter around the middle.Date English antique 18th Century Georgian solid sterling silver, with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1749 (date letter "o"). Good readable marks and include the crowned leopards head stamp of the London assay office and the lion passant/gardant sterling silver stamp. No duty mark as pre-dates the silver duty act.Maker Silversmiths initials "I.W" with "star above & flower head below", (active 1748 - 1763).Condition Lovely condition, and ready to be used. No repairs or wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, just a couple of minor little bruises, really nothing much at all and a nice example. The 3 silver cabriole legs are undamaged and it has a good silver weight.
