Here is a pair of wonderful, early 19th Century Chinese, Qing Dynasty bookends. They are carved out of golden brown nephrite, and feature scenes of temples, mountains, and boats on a river (Yangtze?)They are slightly different shapes, but measure roughly 5 inches long, by 3- 1/4 inches tall, by 1- 1/2 inches thick.These bookends are in very good condition. However there appears to be a very old bit of damage on the right hand end of the left book end where a chunk of the nephrite broke... off leaving the tops of the trees, and some mountain missing. However, the surface and edges are smooth from more than a century of handing and wear, and doesn't detract from their overall appearance. (See images).There are also several areas of bumping and wear, consistent with their age and use.
