This is a Japanese WWll Army officer`s sword in mountings. The blade is signed "Gunsui Akinobu 群水昭信", dated "Koki Nisen roppyakuyo-nen Shi-gatsu kichi jitsu (lucky day, April, 1944) 皇紀二千六百四年四月吉日", shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period made blade. Gunsuito was made at Gunsui Denka Kogyo in Takasaki-city, Gunma prefecture. The blade is traditional hand forged, in old po...lish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome-choji temper and has deep temper at the point. Forging grain is tight komokume-hada, no opening, no blister and no forging flaws. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is metal scabbard, no dent, no bend, no lacquer loss and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose also in good condition. Lock mechanism works fine. Tsuba and seppa are matched kanji number marked. It came with surrender tag "692 Umeda-cho Adachi-ku , Tokyo, Lieutenant, Oya Masao 東京都足立区梅田町六九二番地 陸軍中尉 大矢正男" and blue/brown army lieutenant grade sword tassel, shows fade but no cut in decent condition. It measures 26+1/8" tip to the guard, 25+1/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6.5 mm thickness at the notch and 38+1/2" in mountings. Shipping is $25 priority in U.S. No international shipping.
