Original Description:
This is an original U.S. WWII Army brown wool blanket, dated September 14, 1942.  The blanket measures about 66 by 84 inches, and is the "Type I" blanket listed in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Supply Catalog of August, 1943 as the "Blanket, Wool, OD, M-1934."  This (the Type I blanket)is the type of blanket issued to combat troops. The blanket is typical of US Army blankets issued from 1940 through 1945. The blanket has its original specification label, this reads: "J STEVENS ...INC September 14, 1942, W669-QM-21177, Spec. 8-111, Type I, Stock No. 27-B-678, Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, CONTENTS 100% WOOL."  ********* The blanket is in very good to excellent condition, it is clean and has no rips, tears, stains, or writing. I see three very small (1/8 inch or so) holes when I hold it up to the light, otherwise no damage. Shows light wear to the nap. Blanket is still very serviceable, strong, and usable, or good for a display. The edge stitching (along the short edges of the blanket) is intact.  *********** Overall, a fine, genuine  M1934 WWII wool GI blanket, would work for either display or field use, with a 1942 date it would be appropriate for any WWII impression from just about any time period or theater. Appropriate for North Africa, Sicily, D-Day invasion, Battle of the Bulge, these were used by combat medics, infantrymen, paratroopers. Last photo shows the M1934 blanket in use in the European Theater of Operations (ETO), it shows a pile of blankets and bedrolls near the front lines, and a soldier wrapped in one of the blankets. ********** It is hard to find these blankets without a lot of moth damage, this one is in clean, very good to excellent shape, lightly worn, it would hold up well to use. ********** I can ship worldwide.
