1969 Gibson ES - 175DN Vintage Archtop Electric Guitar Blonde Pat T Tops W/ Case
Item History & Price
The three-piece mahogany neck has a medium C shape at the nut with more depth up the board and plenty of shoulder in every register. The profile measures .843" at the 1st fret and fills out to an impressive 1.022" at 10th fret as the neck begins to transition into the heel, with palm wear through the lacquer down to the smooth, bare wood behind frets 2-7. One of the last ES-175s to feature a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, this guitar has just been professionally refretted with vintage-style wire that has perfect crowns. The nut retains Gibson's traditional 1 11/16" width. On the headstock, the original Gibson Deluxe double line double ring tuning machines are intact, as is the stock truss rod cover. A model with transitional features, this guitar features no "Made in USA" stamp on the back of the headstock, consistent with Pre-Norlin era construction, and is a very early example from 1969, given the orange oval label visible through the F hole.
All of the electronics work as they should, with two stock T Top humbuckers with patent stickers on the baseplates, original chrome covers, and untouched solder. The original pots are intact with immaculate witch hat knobs with silver inserts, and near mint pickup rings and switch bezel round out the plastic parts. All of the stock hardware is present too including the floating carved Brazilian rosewood bridge, as well as the chrome trapeze tailpiece and stock pickguard and bracket.
Cosmetically, the guitar will satisfy discerning collectors, and the body is remarkably clean, exhibiting only light vertical lacquer checking on the back and a few stray faint scuffs and pinhead sized nicks on the instrument as a whole. The bridge was once pinned, and the neck profile is very smooth and free of any nicks or dings.
A hardshell case is included.
