This auction is for a most exquisite antique French Edwardian silk velvet textile fragment salvaged from an early 1900s bodice. This is by far the most beautiful of silk velvet textures in that it is so, so very soft to the touch, its pile is very close to the surface with a very tight weave and it is of pure silk velvet fiber content with a silk-taffeta like backing. It has a variation in hue depending on how it is handled and its color is a gorgeous, classy silvery mint g...reen. The fabric is thin/flat and will gather up nicely. This is a very scarce type of velvet to come by and is a treasure for the collector of fine textiles. It must be seen and handled in person to fully appreciate its loveliness. It is authentic of the era. sold "AS IS". This is a small bodice panel (not yardage)...
It measures approximately
Please Note: this is rare type of velvet, being that is a quite unique color and also that it is of pure silk fiber content. It may not be the largest fragment, but is enough for embellishment of a bodice/jacket for dolls in which authenticity is desired. Suitable for cuffs, small hat, collar, purse, etc.
