This auction is for a beautiful antique silk velvet textile of the early 20s (there is no rayon content, although this is also a natural fiber). If one is interested in a particular shade, please note that it may be different on one's monitor depending on how it is set. This lovely antique fragment is of pure silk fiber content as well as its original selvedge. It is flat/thin fabric with a lovely drape, lightweight and delicate.... When performing a burn test, i...t self-extinguishes and turns to ash. I am a collector of silk velvet textiles for decades, and it should be noted that it is quite scarce to find such a treasure with pure silk 5/8" selvedge and of pure silk fiber content. Its pile is very close to the surface and is very soft to the touch. It is in a very unique shade of berry wine, in my opinion. I cannot stress how lovely this truly is. 20" x 13" This measures approximately 20" across, which includes pure silk selvedge on one side. It is 13" from top-to-bottom edge, running lengthwise with selvedge. No flaws.
