For sale is an all original non-restored example of a WW1 era dress sporran was would have been worn by Officers of the Seaforth Highlanders of Britain and Canada with their full dress uniform. While I'm fairly knowledgeable in this general area, I'm no expert, so please make efforts to research more about this form of full dress sporran.The sporran comes with two sets of tassels, the more conventional hair type with engraved thistle motif sporran bells or cones and six gold coloured b...ullion wire balls suspended on long cords. These strike me as newer than the rest of the sporran but based on what I can find online they look to be the correct style of tassel when the sporran was worn for full dress and levee events. So in short you get both sets of tassels, hair and bullion. The gilt metal cantle is engraved with a thistle spray on either side. A silver metal a spray of thistles with scrolling battle honours on them form a wreath around an ornate stag's head. The nose on the stag is very slightly damaged. A continuous silver scrolls bearing eleven battle honours decorates the upper edge of the cantles as it should on an officers sporran for the Seaforths. The sporran body is in near perfect condition. No sign of major alterations or multiple holes where different cantles, tassels have been affixed and removed over the years as is sometimes the case. The hair body is also well preserve, thick and not shedding horribly as is often the case with these older period sporrans. While include the white buff sporran belt if requested. Sporran measures about 47 cm or 18 1/2" in overall length. Weighs 820 grams with both sets of tassels before packaging. This sporran comes from what was an almost complete full dress uniform grouping which is also for sale at this time on ebay so please check my other auctions as many hard to find related items of regalia are also available.
