For sale is an authentic example of a WW1 era British or Canadian Seaforth Highlander officers scarlet full dress doublet. Made from scarlet melton cloth the single breasted doublet was tailored to period regulations, with a high buff coloured fabric collar and gauntlet cuffs, all of which feature gilt edging and gold piping. The front and rear flaps of the tunic also feature gold piping along with a three button arrangement of regimental style stag headed buttons. Note one b...utton is missing on the front face of the tunic. Luckily such buttons are relatively easy to locate and thus the missing one can be replaced with minimal effort. Hidden integral pockets on the two front flaps. Beautiful preserved shoulder boards with hand stitched bullion pips. The collar features its original collar dogs and is devoid of other holes. The tunic only shows one spot of mothing that I could not which is under the right shoulder and as such is largely hidden. The fabrics are bold and free of obvious signs of soiling or other damage with the exception of one spot near the area of the missing button on the face of the tunic. No efforts to clean the tunic have been taken. The doublet feature a quilted white silk liner. Original owner and tailors tag removed unfortunately. Morocco red leather reinforcing strips sewn around the lower waist of the tunic attesting to its high quality. The liner while very well preserved is slightly soiled in areas such as the armpit from actual wear and usage. Waist belt hooks and fasteners at the collar still present. No idea on size but clearly small. Measures about 44 cm or 17" from shoulder to shoulder and about 66 cm or 26" from shoulder to lower cuff edge. The pictures should speak for themselves but I'm happy to send more if so required. Before packaging the doublet weighs 1.6 kg. This doublet comes from what was an almost complete full dress uniform grouping which is also for sale at this time on ebay so please check my other auctions as many hard to find related items of regalia are also available.
