1979 Gibson ES - 347 Vintage American Tobacco Sunburst
Item History & Price
I used it with flat wound strings for jazz and got a nice Grant Green / Weskind of sound but you can put regular strings on it and get a good blues tone. The serial number is 734690D6 which dates this guitar at 79 (1st and 5th digit of the SN...)
Frets redone by a licensed Gibson luthier about 5 years ago and they are in super condition. Replaced the old pots and switches that were starting to fail with new ones. The luthier used high quality components. Two years later and It has worked perfectly every time I play it.
Cool feature: This guitar has a coil tap switch so the pickups can be single coils or humbuckers. Take that 335!
There is some belt buckle rash on the back that has been finished over. Cosmetically, you can tell this was gigged on and not just a show piece, but its in decent cosmetic condition for it's age for a player's axe except for the belt buckle rash. At least it can't be seen by the audience since its only on the back.
