Antique 18 Inch " Bejeweled " Hertwig Doll In 1890s Era Gown

PLEASE STUDY ALL PHOTOS AS THEY REPRESENT PART OF THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS DOLL. We would like to present this gorgeous 18-Inch Hertwig China Head doll with her restored "Jewels, " in her molded necklace. Her necklace was repainted with gold leaf and Swarkowski Crystals were placed in the indentations. Aside from this small "fix, " this doll is perfect in nearly every way. She has nearly no paint loss or rubbing of the color on her head or face. The colors ...are very bright and quite lovely: the perfect peach shade to her cheeks, the lovely rosebud lips, the well defined blue eyes, with the delicate stroke of apricot to denote her upper lid--wonderful!! Her hair is fashioned in what is known as a "low-brow" style, as little of her forehead can be seen, and denotes she was made in the later 1800s. She has plain bisque, not china, appendages. Please note that this was often the case with dolls made at this time. Very often, one company made the head, while another made the bodies and married them together. Her muslin body is filled with wood shavings, but was somewhat "flabby" in the middle, so we stuffed her with some additional polyfil, (We do not use sawdust at our workshop, being disabled, we make enough of a mess with polyfil. If you are a purist, we apologize) as this is quite a heavy doll and needed the support through her trunk for her head and arms. Our girl is dresses in a magnificent ivory and beige brocade gown which has been elaborately trimmed in gold braid, bronze ribbon flowers, "pearl" roping, and brown satin gathered in festoons to decorate the edge of the gown and provide the crowning glory of a bonnet! Beige capelet sleeves overhang the ivory brocade ones and complement the plunging neckline that flashes her jeweled "necklace" of "diamond and citrine, " which are the perfect companion piece to the gown. She carries a parasol, embellished with a rope of "pearls" and a bronze ribbon rose just like the one that adorn the bodice of her dress. Her Admiral's Bonnet of brown satin is edged in gold braid and rife with a plume of stark whire feathers. (She can wear this or not, using the included museum putty which will not harm the doll or the hat) Her undergarments include pantalettes and a crinoline. She is truly magnificent and a prize for any collector.
